Terms of Service
Last updated: 14 June 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you andDOTA.TEAM (“DOTA.TEAM”, “we”, “us” or “our”), the operator of the website at dota.team and its related services (together, the “Service”). DOTA.TEAM is operated from the United Kingdom. By accessing or using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Who we are and what the Service is
DOTA.TEAM is a team-finding and recruitment platform for the video game Dota 2. Players create a profile, browse teams that are recruiting, and apply to them; teams create a page, post open roles, and review applicants. The Service is provided “as is” and we may add, change, or remove features at any time.
DOTA.TEAM is an independent service. It is not affiliated with, endorsed, sponsored by, or associated with Valve Corporation, Dota 2, Steam, Stratz, or any other third party referred to on the Service. All trademarks are the property of their respective owners.
2. Eligibility and age
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are between 13 and 17, you may only use the Service with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to be bound by these Terms on your behalf. By using the Service you confirm that you meet these requirements.
The Service is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly allow them to register. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 13, we may suspend or delete it and erase the associated personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable law.
3. Your account and Steam sign-in
You sign in to DOTA.TEAMthrough Steam. We do not create or hold a password for you; your access depends on your Steam account, which is governed by Valve’s own terms. You are responsible for keeping your Steam account secure and for all activity that takes place under your DOTA.TEAM account.
You agree that you will:
- provide accurate information and keep your profile up to date;
- maintain only one account and not impersonate another person or team;
- not share, sell, or transfer your account; and
- notify us at support@dota.team if you believe your account has been accessed without your authorisation.
4. Public nature of the Service
DOTA.TEAM is a discovery platform, so much of what you add is public by design. Your player profile, the teams you belong to, recruitment posts, and the details you include in an application (including the verified stats captured at the time you apply) are visible to other users and may be indexed by search engines. Do not post anything you are not comfortable making public. For more detail on what we collect and share, see our Privacy Policy.
5. Acceptable use
When using the Service you agree not to:
- break any applicable law or regulation, or infringe anyone’s rights;
- harass, threaten, defame, or intimidate other users;
- post content that is unlawful, hateful, sexually explicit, deceptive, or otherwise objectionable;
- impersonate any person, team, or organisation, or misrepresent your affiliation;
- access the Service by automated means (scraping, crawling, or bots) except where we expressly permit it, or collect other users’ data without their consent;
- circumvent, disable, or interfere with security features, rate limits, cooldowns, or other restrictions of the Service;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service, other accounts, or our systems; or
- disrupt or degrade the integrity or performance of the Service.
We may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that breach these rules, as set out in section 11.
6. Your content
You retain ownership of the content you submit to the Service, such as your bio, team information, recruitment posts, and messages (“User Content”). You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt (for formatting and display), publish, and distribute your User Content for the purpose of operating, promoting, and improving the Service. This licence ends when your User Content is deleted, except for content others have shared or copied, and for backups retained for a limited period.
You represent that you own or have the necessary rights to your User Content and that it does not infringe any third party’s rights or break these Terms. We may remove User Content at our discretion, including in response to a valid complaint.
7. Stats and third-party data
Some profile information — such as your Counter-Strike 2 playtime and your Premier rating and FACEIT level — is imported from third-party sources including the Steam Web API, FACEIT, and Leetify. We present this data “as is” and do not guarantee that it is accurate, complete, or current. The availability of this data depends on those third parties and on your own privacy settings (for example, a private Steam profile limits what we can show).
8. Subscriptions and billing
Player accounts are free. A paid plan (“Pro”) is required to create and manage a team, at the price shown on our Pricing page. Subscriptions are purchased per player account and processed by our payment provider, Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card details; those are handled by Stripe under its own terms.
- Renewal. Paid plans renew automatically for successive periods (for example, monthly or yearly) until cancelled.
- Cancellation. You can cancel at any time from your account billing page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep Pro features until then. We do not provide pro-rata refunds for partial periods unless required by law.
- Price changes. We may change subscription prices; changes apply from your next renewal and we will give reasonable notice beforehand.
- Taxes. Prices may exclude applicable taxes, which will be added where required.
If you are a consumer in the UK or EU, you have a statutory right to cancel certain purchases within 14 days. Where you ask us to begin providing a paid subscription during that period, you acknowledge that you may lose the right to cancel once the service has been fully performed, and that for partial performance we may charge for the part already supplied. Nothing in this section affects your non-waivable statutory rights.
9. Intellectual property
The Service itself — including its software, design, text, graphics, the DOTA.TEAM name and logo, and other materials we provide (excluding User Content and third-party material) — is owned by DOTA.TEAM or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service in accordance with these Terms. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the Service except as expressly permitted.
10. Third-party services
The Service relies on and links to third parties, including Steam (sign-in and game data), FACEIT (FACEIT level and Elo), Leetify (Premier rating), Stripe (payments), and Discord (community and support). Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services or content, and including a link does not imply our endorsement.
11. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your access — with or without notice — if you breach these Terms, if we are required to by law, or to protect the Service or other users. On termination, the licences you grant us survive only as described in section 6, and the sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive (including sections 6, 9, and 12 to 16) will continue to apply.
12. Disclaimers
The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all warranties, express or implied, including as to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any team or player you find through it will meet your expectations.
13. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability where it would be unlawful to do so — including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, such as your statutory rights as a consumer.
Subject to the above, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or business, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service. To the extent we are otherwise liable, our total liability to you for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim, and (b) £100.
14. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless DOTA.TEAM from any claims, losses, and reasonable expenses (including legal fees) arising out of your User Content, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms — except to the extent the claim arises from our own breach or negligence.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we will take reasonable steps to notify you, for example by posting a notice on the Service before the change takes effect. The “Last updated” date above shows when these Terms were last revised. By continuing to use the Service after changes take effect, you accept the updated Terms.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms and any dispute arising out of them or the Service are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident in the EU or elsewhere, you benefit from any mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live, and nothing in this section deprives you of them.
